At Park we believe that vital ministry extends beyond the walls of our building and into the world. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to love our neighbors in concrete ways that foster hope, peace, and justice. At present, our missional focus is on hosting free community meals, volunteering at a nearby elementary school, leading Sunday worship at a local nursing home, and giving time and money to our leading ministry partners, Hope Southern Indiana and Week of Compassion.
Launched in January 2013, the Open Table Dinner is a free community meal hosted and prepared by members of Park. The meal is held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:00 pm. Christ's Kitchen, a feeding ministry of Centenary United Methodist Church, hosts free meals at Park on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of each month at 4:30 pm and every Thursday at 6:00 pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend and no reservations are required.
Blessings in a Backpack provides elementary school children who are on the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare and ready-to-eat items like ravioli, granola bars, juice boxes, cereal, cheese and crackers, and apple sauce. Park has a team of volunteers who fill and distribute backpacks at Green Valley Elementary School in New Albany.
