At Park we believe that vital ministry extends beyond the walls of our building and into the world. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to love our neighbors in concrete ways that foster hope, peace, and justice. At present, our missional focus is on hosting free community meals, volunteering at a nearby elementary school, leading Sunday worship at a local nursing home, and giving time and money to our leading ministry partners, Hope Southern Indiana and Week of Compassion.
Launched in January 2013, the Open Table Dinner is a free community meal hosted and prepared by members of Park. The meal is held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and no reservations are required.
Christ's Kitchen, a feeding ministry of Centenary United Methodist Church, will begin hosting meals at Park on Thursday, June 27 at 6:00 pm and will follow its regular Thursday (6:00 pm) and Sunday (4:30 pm) schedule going forward. These meals are also free and open to the public.
Blessings in a Backpack provides elementary school children who are on the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare and ready-to-eat items like ravioli, granola bars, juice boxes, cereal, cheese and crackers, and apple sauce. Park has a team of volunteers who fill and distribute backpacks at Green Valley Elementary School in New Albany.
